Upon entering the classroom each student will locate the chair with their name on it and interact with the activity at that table. Table activities will vary day to day. The students will then clean up and wash their hands in preparation for breakfast. Once finished eating the students will practice writing their names while waiting for everyone to be complete. The students will then brush their teeth to the tune of the alphabet song being sung twice. After the students have finished brushing their teeth they will sit on the carpet for circle time.

Which do you like best?
Display two different building and ask which one the children like best.

Today we will review the class rules and talk
about ways we can stay safe. We will then sing the days of the week song while updating the calendar. After calendar the class will also sing our "What is the Weather" song and discuss what the weather looks like from outside the windows. We will then go over our schedule for the day pointing to each picture so that the children will know what to expect for the day. The  letter of the week (Gg), shape of the week (Star), color of the week (Brown), and number of the week (6) will be introduced. Today's question is "Which building do you like best?"

We will read the book titled Buildings, Buildings, Buildings. While reading this we will discuss different types of buildings, what they are used for and what materials are used to build them.
After we are finished reading the book the
children will reflect on the different types of
buildings and which they likes the most.

The children will
be comparing items to see which has more. For example, ice cube trays or egg cartons. Have several balls of play dough that are similar in size and ask the children which ball has more play dough causing them to use their inquiry skills and think through the scenario. Have the children explain their reasons as to why they gave you the answer.

Using the attendance chart try the letter sound variation on the back of the card. Offer support as the children need it.

After that is completed the parents will then assist their children in selecting and outfit that is appropriate for each individual season.

A walk around the school building
The class will go an a walk around the building. Before we do that we are going to introduce the word architecture. This will give the children something to focus on and look for while we are on our walk.. We are going to encourage the children to talk about how the building is build and what if is built of.

To go along with the questions of the day we will read The Three Little Pigs. This will make the children use inquiry to figure out what the strongest material is to build a house out of.

With child sized fishing poles and a set of fish cards with a letter on each of them, the children will try to catch different letters. Before the children can release their fish they should verbalize the letter that they have caught. After verbalizing what they letter have caught they can then make the sound of the letter and any words they they can think of that starts with that particular letter. Provide as much guidance as needed.

Before reading the book Changes, Changes tell the children the title of the book and then show the cover. As you are reading the book point out to the children that the book is wordless. Meaning that it does not have any words. This encourages the children to tell their own story by describing what they perceive in the pictures.

Provide the children with pictures of different buildings. Ensure that the pictures can be written on by putting them on a piece of plain paper. Once the children have looked at the pictures have them pick two different buildings. You can discuss what they like and dislike about each building. After that is completed have the
children compare the two buildings i.e. this
building has 8 windows and this one only have 4. Have he children circle or highlight any differences that they may notices.

Discuss the title of the book while discussing it point out to the children that it says built instead of building. Ask the children why they think that it says they. After giving their reason explain the topic of past tense and how we can talk in the past. After reading the book have the children reflect on what happened in the book and talk about how they would build their own pot.Outdoor Experiences

For this activity you will need a sand table, Small magnetic letters, and a large magnets. The children will sift through the sand with their large magnet trying to pick up the small magnets letters. As they find the letters have the children verbalize what letter they found and what sound the letter makes. Provide guidance as needed.

Encourage the children to pretend that their
bodies are elevators introduce to them first,
second, and third. Explain to the children that they are on the first floor with their bodies low to the ground. Now have someone press the number 2 so we can move up to the second floor. Each child then stands up a little straighter. This is teaching them ordinal numbers. Describing positions in an ordered sequence.

With the wooden blocks provided in in the
classroom gather three students at at time who do not typically work together. Encourage those three students to build a city with the wooden blocks making sure that no one child is doing all the work or providing all the ideas. This is should be a partnership among the children showing them that everyone's ideas is just as
important as theirs this will also reinforce the topic of compromise and working together.
