Question of the Day
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Today we will discuss our Christmas traditions. We will first describe what a tradition is and then talk about any our families take part in. Each student will have an opportunity to share their traditions which we will then add to a class list.

Large Group
Arrival Routine
Upon entering the classroom each student will go to the restroom to wash their hands before breakfast. After washing their hands the students will set up their tables for breakfast by setting out the proper tableware and utensils for that specific meal. We will then sit together and serve breakfast family style with the students. Once finished eating the students will sit on the carpet with a book while waiting for everyone to be
complete. After all of the students have finished eating they will put their books away and sit on the edge of the carpet for circle time.

Today we will review the class rules and count our friends in both English and Spanish. We will then sing the days of the week song while updating the calendar. After calendar the class will use the song charts to sing some of our favorite circle time songs. We will then go over our question of the day while introducing new
vocabulary words and tapping into our higher order thinking skills. The  letter of the week is Ss, the number is 5, the shape is diamond, and the color is white.. Today's
question is "Do you have any Christmas
traditions?"

'Twas the Night Before Christmas- Clement C. Moore
Purpose for Reading: To reintroduce the theme of Christmas and activities associated with the holiday
Vocabulary: Traditions, St. Nicholas,
Sugar-plums, Clatter
Before Reading: We will discuss the various print concepts including directionality,
author/illustrator, and the parts of a book. Ask the children: "How do you spend the night before Christmas?"
During Reading: Actively comment and take the time to discuss vocabulary words and the main characters thoughts and actions. "Why do you think people put milk and cookies out for Santa?" "Why do you think the children were dreaming of sugar-plums?" "How do you think Santa's reindeer fly?"
After Reading: Review vocabulary words with students while writing them on the "word" portion of our class focus board. Ask the students "Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?"

Reindeer Toothpaste Experiment
Today we will be creating reindeer toothpaste using various materials such as dish soap and yeast. The students will be able to help measure the ingredients and mix them together. We will go through the scientific method with the students, creating predictions and hypothesis throughout the experiment. After the toothpaste "erupts" the students will be able to feel the result a sensory experience.

Mighty Minutes #77- Hello Bingo
The students will learn a new morning song to the tune of BINGO. "To all of my friends at our preschool, Hello I say to you, H-E-L-L-O, H-E-L-L-O, H-E-L-L-O, hello to all of you!" Ms.Jessica will sing the song first and then have the students join in.

This week parents will be given an individualized in-kind homework assignment to work on with their children. Parents will also be encouraged to consider volunteering in our classroom at their
convenience and join us for our holiday
celebration this week.

Shubert's Choice
Today the children will hear the story, "Shubert's Choice". Miss Jessica will read the story aloud while questioning and explaining the characters' behaviors/choices. After the story we will discuss the importance of our Shubert story.

Manipulatives- Christmas Puzzles
To go along with our Christmas study we will be adding various holiday themed puzzles to the manipulatives area. The students will have the opportunity to explore these puzzles during free play and small group times.

Question of the Day
How do you spend Christmas Eve?
Today we will discuss how we each celebrate Christmas Eve. Each student will have an opportunity to share their Christmas Eve plans and we will compile a list to compare.

author/illustrator, and the parts of a book. Ask the children: "How do you think Mouse
celebrates Christmas?"
During Reading: Actively comment and take the time to discuss vocabulary words and the main characters thoughts and actions. "HOw can we compare the different decorations Mouse is using? "Do you think Mouse's tree can hold 100 ornaments? Why or why not?" "Why do you think Mouse's tree is leaning over?"
After Reading: Review vocabulary words with students while writing them on the "word" portion of our class focus board. Ask the students "How does your tree look the same/different than Mouse's tree?"

Christmas Ornament Collage
Today the students will be making collages
inside of plastic, clear through ornaments. The students will be provided with several types of materials to put inside of their ornaments. Once the ornaments are full we will put the caps on them and write the year 2017 on them. The students will be able to take the ornaments home as a gift for their families.

Mighty Minutes
Mighty Minutes #64- Paper Towel Rap
Today we will be creating our own raps and then singing them through a paper towel roll as a microphone. Each child will be encouraged to share a rap or song by singing through the paper towel roll. We will label the rolls so each child has their own to decrease the spread of germs.

Eating with our families
Today we will discuss the importance of eating our meals with our families. We will discuss how we eat our meals together at school and how we should try to do the same at home. We will also discuss the types of foods we like to eat with our families and use the choosy food cards as a means of displaying/comparing these meals.
Question of the Day
How are you going to spend your break?
Today we will talk about how we want to spend our holiday breaks. We will discuss different activities and places we may see during this time. Our discussion will also include any plans for celebrating the new year.

Today during our Halloween we will be playing various Halloween themed games. These games will include Jingle Bell Toss, Pin the Nose on Rudolf, Reindeer Ring Toss, and Snowman Cups.

Mighty Minutes #80- Hickory Dickory Dock
Today we will learn and count along with a new rhyme called Hickory Dickory Dock. "Hickory Dickory dock, the mouse ran up the clock. The clock struck [one], the mouse [ran down]. Hickory dickory dock." We will increase the hour each time we repeat the rhyme.

Holiday Party
Today we will be having a Holiday celebration. We will have various games that will sharpen our small and large motor skills. We will also revisit our Christmas stories and carols. Children will be able to play the games and interact with their peers along side their families.
