Choice Time
Library Area- Peter Pan Books
To go along with our Disney study we will be adding various Peter Pan related literature to the library area. The students will have the
opportunity to explore/interact with these books throughout the day.

Question of the Day
Do you know who Peter Pan is?
Before reading our story, Peter Pan, we will see who has seen or heard of the tale. We will use the results of this question to give us an insight of our students' previous knowledge on the topic. After the question has been answered we will read our story and compare it to the movie.

Large Group
Arrival Routine
Upon entering the classroom each student will go to the restroom to wash their hands before breakfast. After washing their hands the students will set up their tables for breakfast by setting out the proper tableware and utensils for that specific meal. We will then sit together and serve breakfast family style with the students. Once finished eating the students will sit on the carpet with a book while waiting for everyone to be
complete. After all of the students have finished eating they will put their books away and sit on the edge of the carpet for circle time.

Today we will review the class rules and count our friends in both English and Spanish. We will then sing the days of the week song while updating the calendar. After calendar the class will use the song charts to sing some of our favorite circle time songs. We will then go over our question of the day while introducing new
vocabulary words and tapping into our higher order thinking skills. The letter of the week is Cc, the number is 13, the shape is crescent, and the color is blue. Today's question is "Do you know who Peter Pan is?"

Purpose for Reading: To introduce the story of Peter Pan to go along with our art show projects.
Vocabulary: Island, Captain, Fairy
Before Reading: We will discuss the various print concepts including directionality,
author/illustrator, and the parts of a book. Ask the children: "Who do you think Peter Pan?"
During Reading: Actively comment and take the time to discuss vocabulary words and the main characters thoughts and actions. "Why do you think Peter Pan never wants to grow up?" "Why do you think Captain Hook doesn't like Peter Pan?" "Why do you think Wendy left Neverland?"
After Reading: Review vocabulary words with students while writing them on the "word" portion of our class focus board. Ask the students "Why do you think Peter Pan called his home Neverland?"

Pirate Ship
Today the students will be working together to create a pirate ship based off the one in our story, Peter Pan. We will be using large boxes, cardboard, tape, markers, and various collage materials to create our ship. Once the ship is complete the students will have the opportunity to explore the ship and act out the story themselves.

Mighty Minutes #15- Say It, Show It
The students will play a number game. While the teacher holds up a number card the students will name the numeral and perform a simple motion to demonstrate knowledge of the quantity.

High Five
Today we will be reviewing how to care for or bodies by talking about the "high five". The high five are the heart, nutrition, your mind, stretching, and Muscles. After identifying the high five we will discuss why each part is important to keep our bodies healthy and strong. We will conclude our lesson with the Choosy song, High Five.

Following our story, 101 Dalmatians, the
students will be asked how they would care for 101 dogs. We will compare the results of the question and discuss why we chose the things that we did. We will also discuss if we think someone would be able to take care of 101 dogs.

Wash the Dog Game
Today the children will be playing a game where they wash toy dogs. We will fill the sensory table with bubbles and water to act as the "bath". We will then present the children with toy dogs covered in "mud" for them to wash. We will talk about how to care for dogs and if we think it would be possible to care for 101 dogs.

Each student will be given a card/tag with their name on it, the teacher will then hold up a letter card followed by the question? Does anyone have this letter in their name? Children with the letter in their name will stand up and name the letter.

Today we will review why its important to move our bodies in order to be healthy and strong. We will perform some basic exercises we have been learning at school such push ups and running in place. We will conclude this lesson with the Choosy song, Jump N Hop.

To go along with our Peter Pan study we will
have access to a pirate costume and Tinkerbell Wings in the dramatic play area. The students will have the opportunity to explore this area during free play and small group times.

discussing why we think Peter Pan never wanted to grow up. We will use the pictures and text from our story to help us answer the question. We will also discuss if we would want to stay young forever and why or why not.

The children will sing, chant, or rap to a lively beat: "We like letters and we're here to say, We can make our letters in so many ways. We can make them with our fingers. Today the children will hear the story, "Shubert's Helpful Day". We will read the story aloud while questioning and explaining the characters' behaviors/choices. After the story we will discuss the importance of our Shubert story.

Today the students will be using dog bone
shapes cookie cutters in order to create a 101
dalmatians inspired design. The students will be presented with the cookie cutters and various colors of paint. The cookie cutters can be used in anyway the students can discover. Students will be encourage to use lots of colors and even mixed different colors in order to create unique pieces of art.

Today we will be learning a new song, My Body Lies Over the Ocean. We will sing the song using the students' names and asking them to use specific body movements.

Today we will talk about foods we can eat in the winter to help us stay warm. We will discuss how we can use various healthy foods to make warm meals at home. We will complete our discussion with the Choosy song, Stir the Soup.

Today the students will be using cardboard tubes to create their own telescopes. Students will be presented with various art supplies in order to design their telescopes. After the telescopes are complete the students will be able to use them to
help engage in sociodramatic play.

Make Me Feel Great
Today we will review healthy and unhealthy
foods and how our eating choices affect our
health. We will discuss the characteristics of
unhealthy foods and healthy foods. After our
discussion, using the choosy cards, the students will sort the healthy vs. unhealthy foods. After we have sorted the cards we will discuss the affect these foods have on our bodies. We will conclude our lesson with the Choosy song, Make Me Feel Great.
